My Approach
For the longest we went to salons that did not specialize in brows or waxing because that was our only option at the time. Some of us had better experiences than others but regardless it was frustrating to walk out unhappy, I know because I experienced that many times as well. Being a brown Latina girl, I started waxing at a young age because I was very insecure of my thick unibrow and upper lip hair. So as a client I wanted to walk into a space I felt comfortable or not feel judged in with a service provider I trusted rather than bouncing around salons hoping one of them was the one for me. Therefore, I decided to create that place I was searching for. My salon is for everyone that had the same struggle looking for that one place or person they could trust with their face. I want to be that place that you guys look forward coming in to for your monthly appointments to get pampered and feel confident in, waxing doesn’t need to be scary anymore.
The name and purpose of Brown Honey Beauty was born as symbol of taking power back from insecurities I had in my youth, it is finally being proud and confident in my body no matter how tan my skin is or the amount of hair on my body. I know that there’s people out there struggling the same way I did whether its finding way to help feel confident in your own body or looking for a service provider to trust, no need to search any further! Let this brown honey be your go-to brow girl!
Dream it
Since I was in middle school I knew I wanted to be a cosmetologist. The idea of making people feel beautiful with my hands gave me so much happiness. I didn’t know what exactly I wanted to do but I knew my dream career was in the beauty industry and I was going to push to be successful no matter what other’s opinions were.
Build it
It has been years building this dream into a reality. From studying through cosmetology and high school to working twice as hard to save up for supplies and equipment for my startup to still currently working double to get into a comfortable place in my career. It doesn’t happen overnight, putting all this work and energy in my business reminds me that it will thrive because I worked twice as hard for it.
